Middle East Hospital – The Most Affordable High-Tech Private Hospital in Bahrain.

THE Kingdom’s newest healthcare provider, Middle East Hospital (MEH), is an 85-bedded acute general facility. It offers comprehensive care with the emphasis on specialised services, particularly for diabetic patients, for whom it offers control and maintenance of the condition as well as dealing with complications, from retinal diseases to kidney and vascular issues.

Surgery and its sub-specialties are among the major services, provided aided by state-of-the-art equipment and top-class professionals, supported by modern imaging services, anaesthesia and post-surgical care. MEH provides obstetrics and gynaecology through major delivery suites and neonatal services. Pediatric care is available through both outpatient and inpatient services. The hospital also offers dental, maxillofacial and ENT services with ophthalmology and endoscopic units soon to be added.

The hospital provides 24-hour services through its emergency department and inpatient services, while outpatient clinics operate six days a week, Sundays through to Saturdays, and operating theatres run on a 24-hour basis for emergency and non-emergency patients.

The eight-bed accident and emergency department can handle acute surgical medical conditions, trauma cases and paediatric emergencies, and there is a separate section to handle emergency obstetrics and gynaecology admissions.

The department of internal medicine offers a series of sub-specialities including: nephrology and renal dialysis; pulmonology; rheumatology; diabetes mellitus and gastroenterology.
The surgery department, in addition to general surgery, provides a range of services including neurosurgery, spinal surgery, urology, orthopaedic surgery and cosmetology.

Other departments include: orthopaedic surgery; neuroscience with interventional imaging for spinal injuries; obstetrics and gynaecology, including delivery suites, a newborn nursery and special care baby unit; paediatrics catering for children from birth to 18 years; ophthalmology; anaesthesia; and imaging, which provides radiology services in the form of Computerised Axial Tomography (CAT scan), digital radiology, ultrasonography and an open MRI. By the end of the year it will also have a Gamma camera to provide nuclear medicine – the first such service in a private hospital in the Kingdom.
In addition, support services are provided through facility management and biomedical engineering and physiotherapy. Furthermore, the information technology section maintains electronic medical records — a major task for the hospital which is run on a paperless base.
